Small Batch Children's Clothing Manufacturing in the UK

Ethical UK Childrenswear Production

Small Batch Children's Clothing Manufacturing in the UK

Got the idea? We can help you make it.

From a box of fabric and finished patterns to little more than an idea for your first collection, we offer flexible children's clothing manufacturing for independent brands, start-ups and designers who want to produce in smaller quantities without disappearing into a huge factory system.

Lottie & Lysh has been designing and producing childrenswear for 11 years. Everything we manufacture for other brands is produced in our fully equipped sewing studio in Cornwall by skilled people working under the same ethical principles we've built our own brand around.

We're Not a Huge Factory.

And we're not particularly interested in becoming one.

What we offer is something quite different: small batch kidswear production with transparent sourcing, fair wages, direct communication and no hidden outsourcing.

You know where your clothes are being made. You know who's making them. And when you have a question, you're speaking to somebody who actually understands the garment sitting on the cutting table.

Choose Where You Start

From Production Ready to Completely New

01

Cut, Make & Trim

Already done the development work? Send it our way.

Our Cut, Make & Trim service is designed for brands with their own patterns, specifications and fabrics ready for production.

  • Cutting from supplied patterns
  • Garment construction
  • Overlocking and coverstitching
  • Press studs, zips, cuffing and finishing
  • Brand and care label application
  • Quality checking
  • Small batch production
  • Finished garments ready for your own fulfilment

You can supply your garments pre-cut and ready to sew, or provide the fabric and patterns and let us handle both cutting and construction.

Starting a Kidswear Brand?

You Don't Need to Know Everything Yet.

One of the hardest parts of starting a children's clothing brand is knowing what needs to happen between having a good idea and actually having something you can sell.

There are patterns, fabrics, printers, labels, sizing, production methods, sampling, minimum quantities and about fifty other things nobody mentioned when you first thought, "I should start a clothing brand."

We've spent 11 years dealing with all of them.

So you don't need to arrive with a tech pack under one arm and a degree in textile production under the other.

If you've got a strong idea and you're serious about building a quality childrenswear brand, talk to us. We'll work out what you already have, what you still need and the simplest route to getting your first collection made.

Private Label Children's Clothing

Use Our Experience to Build Your Range

You don't necessarily need to develop every garment from scratch.

Brands using our Launch Package can choose suitable garments from our established childrenswear range, select their own fabric designs and decide which sizes they want to offer.

That could mean beginning with a simple collection of baby rompers and leggings, then expanding your range as your brand grows.

We'll manufacture them using your fabric and your branding, allowing you to launch with proven garment shapes without taking on the cost and complexity of developing an entire range from zero.

Fabric & Print

Custom Fabric Printing Without the Headache

Custom fabric is one of the easiest ways to make a new children's clothing brand immediately recognisable.

If you already have seamless repeat artwork, brilliant. Send it over and we'll discuss suitable fabric bases and printing.

If you have an idea but not a finished repeat, we can also help you source a surface pattern designer capable of turning that idea into print-ready artwork.

We Can Help With

  • Custom fabric printing
  • Repeat pattern artwork preparation
  • Surface pattern designer sourcing
  • Cotton jersey and stretch fabrics
  • Sweatshirt fabrics
  • Coordinating solids and cuffing
  • OEKO-TEX certified fabric options
  • GOTS-certified fabric options where required
  • Sampling before production

Certification relates to the individual fabric or supplier used for your project. We'll always be clear about exactly what certification applies to the materials we're sourcing for you.

Low MOQ Manufacturing

Start Small. See What Sells. Grow From There.

Huge minimum order quantities are one of the biggest barriers facing a new clothing brand.

Ordering hundreds of every size before you've sold a single garment doesn't make much sense for most independent businesses.

Our studio is already built around small batch childrenswear production, which allows us to work with quantities that are much more realistic for emerging brands and new collections.

It means you can launch, learn what your customers actually want and grow production with demand.

It also means you don't need to turn the spare bedroom into a warehouse for 800 identical rompers and quietly hope for the best.

Ethical Children's Clothing Manufacturing

Know Who Made Your Clothes.

Fair Pay

Skilled garment production deserves skilled wages. Ethical production starts with the people doing the work.

Made in Cornwall

Your garments are produced in our Cornwall sewing studio rather than anonymously outsourced elsewhere.

Transparent Sourcing

We'll tell you where materials are coming from and what certifications apply rather than hiding the supply chain behind vague claims.

Small Batch

Production based around realistic quantities helps reduce unnecessary stock and textile waste.

No Hidden Outsourcing

If we tell you we're making something in Cornwall, we're making it in Cornwall.

Built to Last

Our focus is proper construction and quality rather than producing the maximum possible number of garments as quickly as possible.

11

Years in Childrenswear

We've Learned a Few Things.

Lottie & Lysh has been designing, sampling, cutting, sewing and selling children's clothing since 2015.

We know how stretch fabrics behave. We understand how children's clothes need to move. We know where construction matters, what happens after repeated washing and why something that looks great on a pattern can occasionally be spectacularly annoying on an actual toddler.

But we've also spent 11 years running the business around the clothes.

Suppliers. Fabric printers. Product launches. Pricing. Packaging. Websites. Photography. Customer expectations. Stock. Delays. Mistakes. Things selling out unexpectedly. Things absolutely nobody wanted despite us being convinced they were genius.

So when you work with us, you're not simply hiring someone who can sew.

You're working with another independent childrenswear business that understands what you're actually trying to build.

Who We Work With

You Don't Have to Be an Established Brand.

New children's clothing brands Babywear start-ups Independent designers Creators launching clothing collections Existing kidswear brands Brands wanting UK production Businesses struggling with overseas MOQs Brands needing extra small-batch capacity

You might arrive with finished tech packs, graded patterns and labelled rolls of fabric.

You might arrive with a fabric design and a Pinterest board.

We can have a conversation with both.

Beyond Childrenswear

And No, It Doesn't Have to Be Baby Clothes.

Children's clothing might be where our 11 years of experience began, but our manufacturing service doesn't stop there.

We already work with independent brands producing products outside traditional childrenswear, including hair wraps and dog harnesses.

If your product involves fabric, cutting, sewing and skilled construction, there's a good chance it's something we can help with.

Have Something Different in Mind?

We're happy to discuss small-batch production for other sewn products, accessories and textile-based designs, whether you've already got a production-ready pattern or you're still working out how to turn your idea into something physical.

We won't pretend we can manufacture absolutely everything. Send us your idea, specifications or sample and we'll tell you whether it's something our Cornwall studio is equipped to produce.

A Quick Word About Price

Will We Be the Cheapest?

No.

And we'd rather tell you that now.

We're not trying to compete with high-volume overseas factories producing thousands of garments at the lowest possible unit cost.

Skilled UK production, fair wages, smaller quantities and hands-on manufacturing cost more.

What you're paying for is quality, flexibility, transparency and the ability to know exactly how and where your collection has been made.

If the cheapest possible garment is the foundation of your business model, we're probably not your manufacturer.

If ethical production and making something you're genuinely proud to put your brand name inside matters, we should probably talk.

Frequently Asked Questions

Things You'll Probably Want to Know

Do you have a minimum order quantity?

Yes, but our minimums are designed around small batch production rather than traditional factory volumes. The minimum will depend on the garment, fabric and production requirements. Tell us what you're hoping to make and we'll advise what's realistic.

Can you manufacture children's clothing for a start-up?

Yes. Our Brand Launch Package is specifically designed to make starting a children's clothing brand considerably easier, particularly if you don't yet have patterns, suppliers and manufacturing contacts in place.

Can I supply my own fabric and patterns?

Yes. If your garments are production-ready, you can supply your own patterns, fabric, specifications and trims for our Cut, Make & Trim service.

Can you cut my fabric as well as sew it?

Yes. You can supply pre-cut garment pieces for construction or send us your fabric and patterns for cutting and manufacturing in our studio.

Can you help create my fabric designs?

If you don't have print-ready repeat artwork, we can help you source a suitable surface pattern designer and advise on preparing the artwork for fabric printing.

Can you arrange custom fabric printing?

Yes. We can arrange custom textile printing through established European printing partners and discuss OEKO-TEX or GOTS-certified fabric options depending on your project's requirements.

Can you add my own brand labels?

Yes. We can sew supplied brand and care labels into your garments or help source custom branded labels as part of the Brand Launch Package.

Do you offer private label baby clothing?

We can offer private-label production using suitable garments from our established range, manufactured using your fabrics and branding. Completely bespoke garments can also be discussed where you already have the necessary patterns and production information.

Can you manufacture products other than children's clothing?

Yes. Although childrenswear is our main area of expertise, we also manufacture other sewn textile products for independent brands, including hair wraps and dog harnesses. If you have something different in mind, send us the details and we can tell you whether it's suitable for our studio.

Where will my products be made?

Manufacturing takes place in our fully equipped sewing studio in Cornwall, UK.
